Ras Al Khaimah, April 8: H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, inaugurated a unique contemporary art exhibition - `Tracking the Emirates’ hosted by the RAK Hospital in the presence of H.E. Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart, Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE, here yesterday evening.
The exhibition, organised by Swiss Art Gate UAE (SAGUAE), showcases an eclectic blend of art forms including paintings, prints, installations, sculptures, calligraphy, mosaic and photographs of 16 artists.
H.H. Sheikh Saud toured the exhibition venue and spoke to the artists who explained their creative works on display.
Raza Siddiqui, Executive Director, ETA Star Healthcare said, “Efficiency and accuracy of medical treatment and tools undoubtedly remain the most deciding measures of any medical set-up, yet there are other factors that play a very vital part as well. At RAK Hospital we believe that patient recuperation responds positively to an enabling environment. Our hospital has been designed to reflect the importance of artistic ambience. Hosting such a rich mix of artistic expressions is indeed a unique platform to bring the patients and art together and is very reflective of our belief.”
“Apart from being an opportunity to reveal the quality of the work of these artists, Tracking the Emirates also provides a platform to support and strengthen the local and regional art scene. We sincerely hope that this project will enrich the art culture in Ras Al Khaimah and will also contribute to the development of the arts in the UAE as a whole,” said Kurt Blum, General Manager, Swiss Art Gate UAE.
Tracking the Emirates showcases artists who were selected after a rigorous deliberation of the judging panel comprising Dr. Jean Marc Gauer, CEO, RAK Hospital, Dr. Elisabeth Stoney, Assistant Professor, College of Fine Arts and Design, University of Sharjah, Khalil Abdulwahid, Chairman of the Emirates Fine Arts Society and Kurt Blum, General Manager, Swiss Art Gate UAE. Each artwork has been specially created for this exhibition, and is the artist’s interpretation of their roots or their experiences in relation to the past, the present, or the future of the UAE.
The exhibition would run over a period of four months.
